One fateful day, while transporting his barrels of bourbon from Kentucky to New Orleans, Augustus Bulleit disappeared. What happened is still unknown, and his creation has almost disappeared into history. In 1987, Thomas E. Bulleit, Jr., realized his dream of recreating his family's old bourbon recipe by starting the Bulleit Distilling Company. Inspired by his great-great-grandfather Augustus Bulleit, who made high-quality whiskey between 1830-1860, Tom left a life as a successful lawyer and risked everything. Since this day, Bulleit Bourbon has been distilled and aged in traditional Bulleit family methods. High rye gives it a bold, spicy character with a distinctly smooth and clean finish. Filtered Kentucky water provides a foundation for this bourbon's character, while charred American oak barrels give it a smoky flavor. The aging philosophy is simple: wait until the bourbon is ready.
